Occasions in Bali, from a single table to a venue taken in full.
The Atelier is The Annum’s events house — weddings, celebrations, private dinners and larger gatherings, curated on the island with the same hand and the same taste. For our families, and for others who come for the occasion alone. By appointment.
The Atelier is Lydia Rodwell’s events practice within The Annum — fifteen years of designing weddings and producing occasions, now brought to Bali through the founders’ knowledge of the island and a carefully chosen local creative network. Each commission is shaped individually around the people, place and reason for gathering.
The host should be a guest at their own occasion.
However large or small, every Atelier occasion is drawn one commission at a time — and moves through the same four stages. Nothing is left for the host to carry, and nothing about the day feels hired from a list.
Listening
It begins as a conversation, and moves forward only when the occasion is one we can hold to our own standard. We listen for the moment beneath the event — what it is really for — and shape everything outward from there.
Designing
Nothing is taken off a shelf. The setting, the table, the food, the flowers, the music and the arc of the evening are drawn by hand. A proposal sets out each part plainly, so you see the whole before anything is committed.
Carrying it
On the day the studio carries everything and the host carries nothing — the staging and the seam, the kitchen and the timing, the arrival and the close, all held quietly out of sight so the host can simply be present.
Keeping it
An occasion is more than an evening. The Atelier can hold the days around it — for the host and every guest brought to the island — and bind the night itself into something kept long after.
What makes an occasion here is relationship.
The work lies in knowing which setting, maker, musician, cook or florist fits the people and the moment — and bringing each part together with care.
Private villas, a clifftop lawn, a garden, a pavilion above a river — genuine private settings rather than listed venues.
Settings, makers, musicians, cooks and florists selected for the particular commission — not drawn from a fixed package or directory.
Introductions made carefully, where the relationship and the occasion allow.
Selected clubs, restaurants and private estates, taken in full for a single night and handed back, unmarked, at dawn.
The work is built through relationship and kept by treating each commission as a craft.
The best occasions look effortless. None of them are.
The AtelierFrom a single table to a venue taken in full.
The range is wide; the standard is not. Each occasion is quoted to itself and shaped to the people it is for — and each is set out in full in its own book.
The Wedding
From an intimate ceremony to a celebration beneath the stars — a wedding on the island, arranged end to end, with nothing left for the couple to carry. They should be guests at their own wedding.
The Celebration
A birthday, an anniversary, a proposal — a moment marked with real care, shaped around the person and the moment rather than a template.
The Private Table
A single long table, a chef we trust, and a room that is not a restaurant — dinner made an occasion in itself. The smallest thing the Atelier does, often the most memorable.
The Gathering
A few days for the people who matter, a private estate given over to the occasion — unhurried, and wholly private. A miniature Annum stay, for everyone you bring.
The Production
A beach club, a restaurant or an estate closed for the night and rebuilt — the largest thing the Atelier does, and the most invisible in the doing. Gone by morning.
Photography, film and a bound keepsake may accompany any Atelier commission — the occasion captured without being staged, and made into something kept.
A table set for the people who matter, and no one else.
Not a production, but an occasion — small or large, considered, held in a place that means something. The table, the flowers, the music and the room are settled long before anyone is seated, and the day is arranged so completely that the hosts can be guests at it.
Scale is never the point.
The Atelier takes on only a small number of occasions each year, choosing by fit rather than size. A club taken in full and a single table are held to exactly the same measure: considered, private, made with restraint. There is a great deal on this island done loudly. The Atelier is the opposite of that, at every scale.
In residence, or for the occasion alone.
The Atelier is open both to families in residence and to those coming to Bali for the occasion alone — a couple marrying on the island, a family on holiday, a resident marking a milestone, a host gathering friends from across the world, now and then a house or a brand with something to celebrate quietly. What matters is not how you found us, but whether the occasion is one we can hold properly.
The Atelier is quoted by appointment, shaped in conversation from the first call. A proposal sets out each part plainly — the occasion, the journey around it, and what each will cost — so you see the whole before anything is committed. Pricing follows the occasion, never a list: a single table and a venue taken in full are quoted with the same care.
Held in confidence.
